Eva Under Fire are a Detroit band pushing a heavier, grittier sound. After a two-year release pause, the group returns with “Awakening,” out October 17, the first glimpse of their sophomore album cycle. In interview singer Amanda Lyberg tells more.

Their story moves with garage-band persistence. “We’ve been a band for 10 years.” Amanda says, still writing together at home while this record stretched across three studios in Los Angeles, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Scheduling and travel slowed the process, but the work stacked up: 21 songs written, with all tracks now turned in. Not all will sit on the album, some will surface later as standalones, deluxe cuts, or an EP.

Defining the new sound is simple, lower, meaner, built for bounce. In LA, producer Jon Lundin (Point North) handed over a baritone “monster” and the guitars dropped into a new register. “That was day one — this is our direction.” Amanda says. The shift taps roots, early screams and heavier riffs, but with a focus on live energy.

That change carries a message. “This is the villain era.” she says. Less watered down, more self-determined. Mental health threads remain, but identity and boundaries step forward, “My Own Name” takes back Amanda from the stage moniker. “People will demonize you… I just want to be myself.”

For now, “Awakening” opens the door, a self-discovery anthem about finding your fire again. The album is locked and coming next, with the remaining new material planned across singles and expanded releases. The new era starts heavy and unapologetic.
